About Camp Poncho Designs

Welcome to Camp Poncho Designs! Our shop is a heartfelt tribute to the indelible spirit of Girl Scouting, rooted deeply in our family's own journey.

My name is Niea, though in camp circles, I'm affectionately known as Poncho! My personal Girl Scout adventure began way back in the 90's as a Brownie. Years later, that flame was rekindled when my daughter, 'Spaghetti', started Kindergarten. With no one else stepping up, I proudly formed and led her troop for an incredible 13 years, seeing her all the way through to her high school graduation.

Beyond troop leadership, I dedicated myself to various roles within our local Girl Scout community, serving as a Council Delegate, a Community Manager, and actively supporting recruitment and communications efforts too. My passion for the outdoors led me to become a Hiking Instructor, where I had the joy of teaching basic trail skills to troops across our area. And yes, my camp name 'Poncho' truly earned its stripes from countless camp trips and my notorious, made-up 'poncho song'—always a reminder in sunny Florida to be prepared for rain!

Then there's Spaghetti, my amazing daughter and the vibrant inspiration for this shop. Her 13 years in Girl Scouts were truly extraordinary. She distinguished herself as a Council Delegate and even a National Delegate, lending her voice to the wider Girl Scout movement. Her impressive resume boasts roles as a Sailing Instructor, Hiking Instructor, Camp Counselor, Lifeguard, and Program Aide in diverse areas like Astronomy and Automotive Engineering for example. She earned both her Bronze and Silver Awards, along with multiple Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, all while earning badges and selling over 13,000 boxes of cookies! Beyond her Girl Scout achievements, Spaghetti is a classically trained cellist, she was the captain of her high school swim team, an IB Diploma graduate with a Seal of Biliteracy, and is currently exploring the world while studying abroad in Barcelona.

My knack for design first blossomed when I started creating captivating graphics for our local council's events. I loved crafting on-brand social media posts that highlighted badge opportunities and specific age targets, aiming to boost attendance and excitement.

Camp Poncho Designs was born from these decades of shared experiences, adventures, and the profound impact Girl Scouts has had on our lives. We create unique, high-quality designs that celebrate troop leaders, volunteers, and families who embody the courage, confidence, and character of Girl Scouts. We hope our designs bring as much joy and pride to your Girl Scout journey as ours has brought to us!
